The second selection committee of the year 2022 of Arte France Cinéma (headed by Olivier Père) has chosen to commit to co-production and pre-purchase on four projects.

Among them is Patricia Mazuy's Portraits trompeurs, which reunites her with Isabelle Huppert 22 years after The King’s Daughters (Un Certain Regard in Cannes in 2000 and eight nominations at the César Awards in 2001). , will also star Hafsia Herzi. The script tells of an unlikely friendship between two women whose husbands are in prison. A meeting between a courageous young mother and a refined bourgeois woman. What brings them together? The hardships? Loneliness? One will help the other. Or maybe it's the other way around... The shooting of this ARP and Picseyes Films production is scheduled for January and February 2023 in Metz, Strasbourg and Ile-de-France.

(competition at San Sebastián in 2017 and eight nominations at the 2019 César). This time, the director will adapt Aaron Appelfeld's novel of the same name. In 1943, on the borders of Ukraine and Poland, Yulia, who is fleeing the ghetto and deportation, entrusts her son Hugo, 11, to a childhood friend, Mariana, 35, who is a prostitute in a brothel. Hidden in a windowless room adjoining the young woman's bedroom, Hugo's existence is suspended by the noises and scenes he guesses through the partition: with imagination as his only resource, Hugo becomes aware of both the massacres being perpetrated and the mysteries of sexuality... The film will be shot in Hungary in early 2023 and is being produced by French companies Cinéfrance Studios and Curiosa Films, Israeli outfits Metro Communications and Sunshine Films, Belgian company Tarantula and Hungarian outfit Proton.

Arte France Cinéma has also selected two projects scheduled to shoot in the first quarter of 2023: Je suis encore là by Brazilian multi-award winner Walter Salles (an adaptation of Marcelo Rubens Paiva's book of the same name, about a mother fighting the military dictatorship in the 1970s, which is being helmed by Paris-based MACT Productions with Brazilian companies Videofilmes and RT Features) and All We Imagine as Light by India's Payal Kapadia (her first feature-length drama after the multi-award winning documentary A Night of Knowing Nothing [+leggi anche:
