Based on her own original script and billed as “a contemporary look at the various forms of love”, her new movie revolves around Juulia, who discovers that her husband Matias is having an affair with another woman called Enni, and she decides to embrace polyamory without harbouring any secrets.

Speaking about her new effort, the director said: “At the heart of our story is human frailty and helplessness in the face of life, no matter how hard one tries to strive for security and the good, right decisions. With this group of actors, I dared to dive into the complex emotions of the scenes, surrender to them, and take risks together. All four leading actors are incredibly skilled and interesting artists whose wisdom and professionalism I admire.”

Four Little Adults is being produced by Venla Hellstedt and Elli Toivoniemi for Finland’s Tuffi Films, in co-production with Nima Yousefi for Sweden’s Hobab and Birgit Kemner for France’s Manny Films, with co-financing from SVT (Sweden) and Aurora Studios. It also received backing from the Finnish Film Foundation, the Swedish Film Institute and the Nordisk Film & TV Fond. Paris-based Indie Sales is in charge of its global sales. The Finnish premiere, handled by Aurora Studios, is slated for 2023.
