In November, the Spanish Film Academy organised its annual meeting in the Spanish capital to unveil the nominees for the upcoming edition of the Goya Awards, which are set to be handed out in February this year (see the news in Spanish) in Valencia. In total, eight of the hopefuls received support from the Community of Madrid via the call for applications for audiovisual-sector support, implemented by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sport. Said support amounted to €1.95 million in 2021.

Lastly, it is worth mentioning that Cartoon Springboard will organise a new edition of its event intended to present projects by young animation creators in Madrid, between 25 and 27 October 2022. Madrid City Council, the City of Madrid Film Office, Creative Europe – MEDIA and the Community of Madrid have made it possible for the Spanish capital to play host to this rendezvous seeking to facilitate access to the market for up-and-coming European animation professionals, and thus help them as they develop their projects. Over the course of three days, they will be able to present their works in a pitching format in front of an audience made up of active industry professionals. It’s an event that, since its launch in 2015, has become an unmissable date in the diaries of producers in search of emerging talent in the field of animation.
