Having graduated from la Fémis in 2016 and turned a fair few heads with her various short films, notably Son of the Wolf (which competed in Locarno in 2015 and was nominated that same year for the European Film Award), Lola Quivoron is immersing herself once more in the world of motorbike stunts and illegal, urban rodeos which she previously explored in Au loin, Baltimore (likewise a Locarno competitor in 2016) on the occasion of her first feature-length fiction film Rodéo [+leggi anche:

Written by Lola Quivoron herself and Antonia Buresi (a duo who co-directed the documentary Headshot - Roulette russe on behalf of La Lucarne d’Arte), the story revolves around Julia, a young misfit and small-time thug who is fiercely passionate about riding. One summer, she encounters a crew of dirt riders who fly along at full speed and perform acrobatic stunts on their bikes, mostly without helmets. She sets about infiltrating their male-dominated, clandestine world, but an accident jeopardises her ability to fit in…

Produced by Charles Gillibert and Romain Blondeau (associate producer) on behalf of CG Cinéma, Rodéo has been pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+, and by the SOFICA company Cinemage. Shooting unfolded in the Gironde region, with Raphaël Vandenbussche (My Best Part [+leggi anche:

Distribution in France and international sales are both in the hands of Les Films du Losange (this will be the first film produced via the new association brought about by Charles Gillibert and Alexis Dantec’s takeover, at the end of August this year, of Les Films du Losange).
