The CeTA (Audiovisual Technology Center) Award, which includes 30,000 PLN (€6,500) for sound post-production at the movie studio in Wrocław, went to the animated documentary comedy series Happily Never After, directed by Alžběta Göbelová and Gabriela Plačková, written by Jakub Votýpka and produced by Mária Môťovská for the Czech Republic’s Helium Film. The story brings the famous creatures that we all know from fairy tales and mythology into the reality of the 21st century, examining how they would react, and what would become of their original purpose and powers. The series draws up a European-wide map of fairy-tale creatures while working within the genre of a fictional documentary.

Furthermore, the documentary series Anna’s World, written by Tijs Torfs and Celine Vanhoutte, and produced by Katleen Goossens for Antwerp-based Bulletproof Cupid, received the M:Brane Award, which includes a free accreditation for, and pitching opportunity at, the Swedish event next March, along with the Sardegna Film Commission Award, which gives the team a chance to explore the island and includes location-scouting services valued at €3,000.

The series, which is targeted at an audience of young children aged up to ten years old, follows 24 hours in the life of main character Anna, a ten-year-old girl: breakfast, going to school, lessons, break, homework, dinner, going to bed. Each episode follows a different girl, changing continents and countries, and the only thing that doesn’t change is the name: it’s Anna, whether she’s in Belgium, Japan, Kenya, Iran, Cuba or New Zealand.

Finally, the CEE Animation Award, which includes a free accreditation for, and pitching opportunity at, the event, went to the animated series My Name Is.., written by Eliza Płocieniak-Alvarez, and co-produced by Płocieniak-Alvarez and Carol Ratajczak for German outfit Blaue Pampelmuse. Aimed at an audience of children up to six years old, the series, currently in development, follows the Emotions that live in our heads and who want to give an interview to introduce themselves. They include Shame, Envy, Anger, Fear and Sadness, plus many more, and through this process, the intention is to educate children.
