Less Is More è alla ricerca dei suoi prossimi progetti e cambia prospettiva

Questo articolo è disponibile in inglese.

Less Is More (LIM) has opened the call for its 2022 edition, where a total of 16 writers and directors will have a chance to participate in next year’s programme, which will allow them to develop and produce their next feature film.

This year, the programme is changing perspective, as after being labelled as “the European development programme for limited-budget feature films” since its creation four years ago, now LIM becomes “the European feature-film development programme for committed filmmakers in a changing world”. According to the organisers, at the heart of this new label is the fundamental idea that using the concept of limitation is not only a matter of budget, but becomes a necessity both to enhance creativity and to rethink how independent cinema is conceived in a time of deep environmental and political concern. In this regard, LIM’s team wants to continue to open up new types of collaboration between writers and filmmakers in order to help independent cinema open new horizons of humanism.

The LIM programme is composed of three one-week residential workshops in three European destinations, starting in March and ending in October 2022, and a tailor-made Showcase Event to benefit from the input of industry professionals coming from all over Europe. During these workshops, the participants will have a chance to brainstorm with script consultants and other filmmakers. LIM is welcoming writers/directors who are developing their first to third feature films, and who are from (and/or living in) the European Union, Eurimages member countries or non-EU participating countries in the Creative Europe programme, as well as the United Kingdom.

The call is now open, with the deadline set for noon on 11 October, and LIM would like to welcome filmmakers who are aiming to develop and produce their debut, sophomore or third feature. Potential participants should already have a proven track record of work, either with their previous short or feature-length fiction or documentary films, or in the fields of visual arts or theatre. All of the necessary information can be found here.

Furthermore, an online introductory presentation of this new call is being organised by Antoine Le Bos, LIM’s artistic director, and Massimiliano Nardulli, head of talent, to be followed by a Q&A session. The presentation will be held on Wednesday 22 September 2021 at 17:00 CET, and you can register to attend here.

Less Is More is supported by the European Union’s Creative Europe – MEDIA programme. It is led by France’s Le Groupe Ouest, and has been developed in conjunction with Control N (Romania), the Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds – VAF (Belgium), the Krakow Festival Office – KBF (Poland) and the Transilvania International Film Festival – TIFF (Romania), in partnership with the Lithuanian Film Centre, the Norwegian Film Institute and the Brittany region (France), as well as Screen Scotland (UK) and Focal (Switzerland).
