There’s been some good news for the Danish box office: Thomas Vinterberg’s Another Round [+leggi anche:

has had the best opening weekend for a domestic title in the drama genre in seven years. Vinterberg’s movie, released nationwide last Thursday by Nordisk Film, was screened across 170 screens in 135 cinemas and sold 102,366 tickets in four days (including sneak previews). The news was reported by the Nordisk Film & TV Fond.

It is certainly an encouraging result, especially considering all of the social-distancing restrictions imposed by the current health crisis. Another Round enjoyed the best premiere for a drama film since another Vinterberg flick, The Hunt [+leggi anche:

(2013), which opened to 118,913 admissions. Moreover, Another Round is the fifth-most-successful Danish film of 2020. The other four titles are Klown - The Final by Mikkel Nørgaard (437,381 admissions), Into the Darkness [+leggi anche:

The movie follows Martin (played by Mads Mikkelsen) and three of his friends, all tired high-school teachers, who embark on an experiment to keep up a constant level of intoxication throughout the workday. Originally set to be premiered at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival, Vinterberg’s feature ended up being presented at Toronto and San Sebastián in September. It will also open Film Fest Gent on 13 October (see the news).

To date, over 30 distributors have acquired the film from Copenhagen-based international sales agent TrustNordisk.
