The 68th edition of the San Sebastian International Film Festival (which will take place physically, if the pandemic allows it, from 18 to 26 September) will host the world premiere of Luca Guadagnino’s We Are Who We Are [+leggi anche:

, the HBO-SKY series announced as one of the three projects selected for the Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight, whose 52nd edition was unable to go ahead due to Covid-19 (read news).

Written by Paolo Giordano and Francesca Manieri together with Guadagnino, the 8-episode series explores friendship, first love and identity through two adolescents living on an American military base in Italy. In the words of the San Sebastian director, José Luis Rebordinos, having the world premiere of We Are Who We Are is a “luxury” for the festival programme.

, a musical starring Ingrid García-Jonsson including in its soundtrack the greatest hits of the Italian Raffaella Carrà and the series Inés del alma mía as part of the RTVE Galas.

The festival has also completed the list of films in Competition with the second feature by China’s Zhou Ziyang, Wuhai, as well as the New Directors section with the first feature by Switzerland’s Christian Johannes Koch, Spagat [+leggi anche:

Finally, a total of 19 titles will compete for the award in the Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section. Several of the ten feature films and nine shorts programmed landed awards or screened at the last Berlinale; however, there are also works which were to have participated in the cancelled Cannes Film Festival and films which will shortly screen at the Venice Film Festival and Toronto Film Festival.
