After the announcement of the projects selected for WIP Latam, the new works-in-progress industry programme replacing the Films in Progress section (read news), the 68th San Sebastián International Film Festival has now unveiled the films in development chosen for WIP Europa. The section, which will also see its first edition happening this year, emerges as an evolution of Glocal in Progress, as it is mainly intended for European productions in any language, although it will be an advantage if they are shot in a non-hegemonic language. A total of five productions coming from Slovenia, Spain, Georgia and Turkey will be introduced to an audience of professionals, and will compete for the WIP Europa Industry Award and the WIP Europa Award.
Due to the current health crisis, WIP Latam will combine onsite and online formats, being held from 22 to 24 September to coincide with the festival (held from 18 to 26). Those professionals who are able to come in person to San Sebastián in spite of the current public health situation will attend the screenings in cinemas, while the rest will be able to enjoy these services virtually.
Among the five work-in-progress selected, professionals will find the first fiction film by Slovenia's Darko Sinko, known as a documentary maker to date, and the second film by Georgia's Lasha Tskvitinidze (who released I Am Beso [+leggi anche:
