Founded in February following the merger of the international sales teams at Jour2Fête and Doc & Film (see the news), The Party Film Sales will be moving things up a gear at the Marché du Film Online (22-26 June) of the Cannes Film Festival, as the company managed by Sarah Chazelle and Etienne Ollagnier, and headed up by sales directors Clémence Lavigne and Samuel Blanc, will be negotiating deals for four films bearing the Cannes 73 Official Selection label.

by Charlène Favier will be wagering everything on its pair of lead actors (Noée Abita and Belgium’s Jérémie Renier) and on its moving story (about a young woman trying to escape the clutches of her abusive coach). Produced by Mille et une Productions, and co-produced by Charlie Bus Production and Belgian outfit Panache, this feature debut will be distributed in France from 11 November by Jour2Fête.

by Aurel. Written by Jean-Louis Milesi (who has partnered up many times with Robert Guédiguian), the story unfolds in February 1939. Overwhelmed by the arrival of Republican fighters fleeing Franco’s dictatorship, the French government decides to hold the Spanish refugees in internment camps, where many refugees will perish. Here, two men who are separated by a barbed-wire fence form a friendship. One is a guard, the other is Josep Bartoli (1910-1995), an anti-Franco combatant and cartoonist. Produced by Les Films d’Ici Méditerranée together with Les Films du Poisson Rouge, Tchack, EJT, Belgium’s Lunanime and Spain’s B-Water Animation Studios, the feature, which secured support from the Gan Foundation for Cinema, among other sources, will come out in French theatres on 30 September, courtesy of Sophie Dulac Distribution.

by US director Jonathan Nossiter (starring Nick Nolte, Charlotte Rampling, Stellan Skarsgård and Alba Rohrwacher), will be pre-sold without any images available to back it up, as the movie is still in the final stages of post-production.
