Just one day ahead of the official announcement of its Tiger and Big Screen Competitions, International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) has revealed the complete line-up for the features in its Bright Future section.

IFFR offered an initial glimpse of the selection last month (see the news), confirming that Bright Future is the starting point for creative innovation and a platform that allows emerging filmmakers to present their personal unique cinematic vision. The main aim of the section is also to offer a unique overview of both unexplored ideas and crucial subject matters, as seen from the point of view of different cultures.

The movies, directed by debuting filmmakers and set to have their international or world premieres, are also eligible for the €10,000 Bright Future Award. Some of the new additions are the melancholic family drama End of Season [+leggi anche:

, a documentary by UK artist-filmmaker Richard Squires that follows the life of voice actor Paul Lynde, best known from various Hanna-Barbera cartoons. Finally, German director Susanne Heinrich’s debut postmodern comedy Aren’t You Happy? [+leggi anche:

 will be screened out of competition.

It should be noted that the eight movies in the Tiger Competition, which is also part of the Bright Future section, will be announced on 9 January, and the 48th edition of IFFR runs from 23 January-3 February 2019.
