Produced by Palomar in collaboration with Vision Distribution and Sky, the film was shot in Lecco, Lombardy, and the surrounding area over a seven-week period. “The end of filming on Cento domeniche also draws a line under a human and professional experience which I will never forget”, enthused Albanese, who hails from the city overlooking Lake Como. “I’d dreamed for a while about depicting this province, its dreams, its ambitions and its extraordinary social and human cohesion, and now this dream has come true”.

Cento domeniche is written by Albanese and Piero Guerrera (who has written several well-known TV programmes and film scripts, including those of Whatsoeverly [+lire aussi :

, toplined by Albanese himself). It tells the story of Antonio, a former shipyard worker who leads a meek and quiet life: he plays boules with his friends, takes care of his elderly mother and has an ex-wife with whom he’s on excellent terms, as well as a beloved only daughter called Emilia. When Emilia announces that she has decided to get married, Antonio is overwhelmed with joy: he can finally fulfil his dream of giving her the wedding reception they’d always dreamed of, thanks to his life savings.

However, the bank he has always been a loyal customer of is hiding something. Its employees suddenly start to act shiftily and, inexplicably, they seem to be constantly changing director. Paying for his daughter’s wedding turns into an increasingly arduous task and Antonio reluctantly realises that those who look after our treasures don’t always look after our dreams.

Alongside Antonio Albanese, the cast also stars Liliana Bottone, Sandra Ceccarelli, Bebo Storti, Maurizio Donadoni and Elio De Capitani, with a special appearance from Giulia Lazzarini.

Cento domeniche will be distributed in Italy and worldwide by Vision Distribution.
