The international premiere of the Ukrainian show Cardamom Coffee took place on 7 June at NEM Dubrovnik, Croatia, where the series garnered a great deal of acclaim. According to the comments of the media present, hailing from around the world, few people expected such a high level of quality from a Ukrainian series. The show was presented personally by the showrunner and main actress in the series, Olena Lavrenyuk. It was acquired by German sales agent Beta Film.

Veronika Kovakova, Beta Film’s executive vice-president for International Sales in Eastern Europe and Turkey, said: “At Beta Film, we firmly believe in the quality of products and talents in Central and Eastern Europe. Cardamom Coffee is a perfect example of the importance of local history, talented creatives and excellent production quality. It was an honour for me to present this epic classic drama to the world at NEM Dubrovnik.”

Lavrenyuk said: “Cardamom Coffee is beginning to travel the world. Personally, I refer to this event as ‘marrying off your daughter to a prince’. I am very happy about that. Distribution through Beta Film provides excellent opportunities for further co-production of the second season and bodes well for the scale of the filming.”

Cardamom Coffee is a story about forbidden love, and the events unfold in Lviv in the 19th century. The historical drama was filmed in Ukraine. The main roles are played by Olena Lavrenyuk (Woman at War [+lire aussi :

) and Pawel Delag (Schindler's List). The script of the series is based on the novel Melody of Coffee in the Tone of Cardamom by Ukrainian writer Natalia Gurnytska. It was jointly created by Starlight Media and Solar Media Entertainment.
