Sarajevo annonce le contenu de son programme Avantpremiere Series et sa sélection CineLink Works in Progress
La série thriller psychologique Black Wedding, qui jouera dans la section Avantpremiere Series

Audiences and film professionals at the 27th Sarajevo Film Festival will have the opportunity to watch exclusively on the big screen the first two episodes of the first seasons of the series Awake, Time of Evil, Bad Blood, Black Wedding and Golden Boy, as well as meet the cast. All of them were made in Serbia, which suggests the high popularity of Serbian shows in the region as well as a well-developed Serbian production. "In the production of regional drama series this year, Serbia is certainly in the lead, which is evident in our selection for this year, characterised by striking performances of regionally famous actors and topics related to this area. The programme includes suspenseful crime dramas, a psychological thriller with an aspect of mystery, series based on famous literary works and a contemporary story about dreams, idols and football," said Tina Hajon, programmer of the Avantpremiere Series programme.

The section will open with the premiere of the crime series Awake, following the life of a young female detective with parapsychological powers and produced by United Media. The director duo Jelena Gavrilović and Uroš Tomić’s previous joint work, the series The Group, premiered within the same programme two years ago and is also the first Serbian series whose global distribution rights were bought by leading Israeli media company Keshet International. Another United Media production to be shown is the historical drama based on novels by Dobrica Ćosić entitled Time of Evil, directed by Ivan Živković, with a plot set in Serbia before and during World War II.

One more historical drama series to premiere this year, developed in the CineLink Drama programme of the festival and produced by This and That Productions and RTS is Bad Blood, based on the literary work by Bora Stanković and a script written a long time ago by Vojislav Nanović. Directed by Milutin Petrović, the series follows the downfall of the old landlord's family, through which the weakening of the Ottoman Empire and the formation of new nation-states are depicted in parallel, while widely popular Serbian actor Dragan Bjelogrlić plays the main role. The feature film version of the series has just premiered at the European Film Festival Palic under the title Impure Blood – Sins of Ancestors [+lire aussi :

The other two titles in the programme are the psychological thriller Black Wedding, directed by Nemanja Ćipranjić and featuring regional stars such as Uliks Fehmiu, Nikola Kojo, Jelena Đokić and Slavko Štimac; and the directorial debut of Ognjen Janković called Golden Boy, in which the talented football player Denis Marković is played by rising star Denis Murić

In the Avantpremiere Series programme, drama series compete for the Audience Award sponsored by Mondo.rs, and are directly shortlisted for nominations for the Hearts of Sarajevo Awards for TV series.

In parallel to this, the CineLink Work in Progress section of the CineLink Industry Days, which serves as a showcase for the most exciting new works from Southeast Europe and the MENA region, has also announced its line-up for this upcoming edition. The selection includes ten new feature-length films – seven works of fiction and three documentaries – which will be presented in front of high-profile industry professionals such as financiers, sales agents, distributors, broadcasters and festival programmers, with the aim of assisting their completion and enhancing their distribution possibilities. “There is a rich variety and diversity of films, with subjects and genres shifting from tough social issues and poetic treatments of reality to meta cinema and authenticity of humor. Very strong and diverse projects in this selection can be seen through the prism of how the industry coped in these challenging times,” explains Amra Bakšić Čamo, Head of CineLink.

The projects will compete for three awards: the Post Republic Award (€50,000 in kind), the CineLink Iridium Award (€20,000 in kind) and the Turkish National Radio Television Award (€25,000 in cash). The jury which will decide on the awards includes Semaine de la Critique’s Artistic Director Ava Cahen, the Festivals Coordinator at the Turkish National Radio Television Esra Demirkiran, Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin’s Head of Panorama Michael Stütz, Senior In-house Producer at The Post Republic Petra Kader-Göbel, and Charades Co-Founder Yohann Comte.
