Kuba Czekaj is a Polish talent to look out for, his projects drawing the attention of both critics and the industry ever since he directed Don’t Be Afraid of The Dark Room, a short noir fairy tale in 2009. His feature films The Erlprince [+lire aussi :

screened at many international festivals, including the Berlinale and Venice. Czekaj is currently in post-production with his third film, entitled Lipstick on the Glass [+lire aussi :

“It’s a film about the need for equality, harmony between men and women, family and self-realisation, and – above all – about the freedom to be who you want to be and to choose your own sexual identity,” the director told Cineuropa. The plot of the film has not yet been revealed, but the producers hint at Lipstick on the Glass being, at least to some extent, a road movie. At the moment, they are only sharing a logline: “Emeryka loses control of her life through the intrigue of a mysterious character named ‘The Something’ and is led to an adventurous escape to a female sect, for which she has to leave her daughter behind.”

), Mina Tander, Mari Malek, Yeule and two newcomers: Lili Lubliński and Jagoda Siwak. Tomasz Woźniczka lensed the film, Mela Melak is the production designer, Svenja Gassen designed costumes, while Nicolas de Toth is editing the film. Axel Arft is responsible for sound, while Hanka Thot is the make up artist. Lipstick on The Glass was shot on location in Poland, Germany and in the international waters of the Baltic Sea.

The film is produced by Paweł Kosuń and Agnieszka Janowska from Centrala FILM (Poland), and by Arek Gielnik from Indi Film (Germany). Czekaj’s film was financially supported by the Polish Film Institute, Bundesregierung fur Kultur und Medien (BKM), Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Lower Silesia Film Fund, Polish-German Film Fund and Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung (MDM). The production benefited from Polish and German financial incentives. The film's theatrical release is scheduled for autumn 2021. German distributor is W-Film. Polish and international rights are up for grabs.
