Young Lithuanian helmer Vytautas Tinteris' sophomore feature, a coming-of-age drama entitled My Lithuanian Dream, is now in post-production. Over the last few years, Tinteris, an alumnus of the Tallinn-based Baltic Film and Media School and Prague's FAMU, has been working as a freelance videomaker in Paris, Lisbon and London, and has directed several shorts as well as his debut feature, Plastic Palace People (2019).

The story of My Lithuanian Dream, penned by the director himself, revolves around an American family going on a NATO mission to Lithuania, where their teenage kid, called Michael, forms an indie-rock band with a local child, Andrius. The main cast members are Liudvikas Racys, Jack Becka, Ina Bartaite, Sonata Visockaite, Soaw Nyce and Rojus Razmas. Filming took place in October in Vilnius, and Zbigniev Bartoševič (Plastic Palace People) served as the DoP.

Speaking about the themes of his project, Tinteris told Cineuropa: “The main theme of this film is ‘teenage angst’ and how the modern generation of teenagers deals with it. I don't see teenagers spending time outdoors any more. Everyone is literally keeping their ‘angst’ tied up with technology – video games, phones and so on... But sometimes, said anger and anxiety come out very impulsively, releasing some unimaginable violence. I hope that this film will help teenagers face their inner fears and find peace within themselves through experiencing their ‘first’ times – their first love, their first kiss, their first song and their first real friendship.”

My Lithuanian Dream is being produced by Ieva Malikėnaitė (Violence) for Lithuanian outfit Screen Saviors. The project recently received development support from the Lithuanian Film Centre, the country's film agency. The feature will be ready for release next year.
