From 26 – 29 November, the Festival dei Popoli will host the Doc at Work – Future Campus event. The 12 films included within the programme will offer an overview of a generation of emerging filmmakers, both female and male, who have been educated in European schools, and will provide viewers with a valuable opportunity to decipher new pathways in the film-reality relationship. The schools participating in this fourth edition are: CSC – Palermo; CISA; Civica Scuola di Cinema Luchino Visconti; ERG – École de Recherche Graphique; ECAM; FAMU; HFF München; INSAS; La Fémis; LUCA; Master in Creative Documentaries – UPF, and NABA.

In addition to this selection of 12 documentaries, film school students will get to take part in a training course involving filmmakers and sector professionals, as well as in a panel discussion relating to documentary production, held in collaboration with CNA Toscana. From 26 - 28 November, online meetings will take place between directors of works which are screening in the line-up and authors and professionals in the documentary sphere, such as London-based director Ben Rivers and artistic director of Tënk.fr Eva Tourrent.

“Doc at Work Future Campus is a project which the Festival dei Popoli strongly believes in” – explains the head of the Campus programme Margot Mecca to Cineuropa – “a project which, in a year as difficult as this, we wanted to be a prime feature of "Popoli reloaded" (Editor’s note: a few of the festival’s films will be re-screened in cinemas in the presence of their directors in the early months of 2021), with a view to the festival continuing and leaving a mark beyond its official dates. We’re gambling on the new generations because we think it’s necessary to recognise and support newcomers’ work by introducing audiences to it. We also believe the festival can act as a bridge between studying and finding one’s place in the professional, documentary world, offering tools of reflection and networks which will help graduates pursue a career in film as best they can”.

The films included within the selection will be available to stream free of charge via the PiùCompagnia platform, in collaboration with MyMovies.it qui. Twelve titles will make their debut online, in their original language, every afternoon from 3pm (in groups of three) and will remain available for the following 72 hours.
