Coccinelle Film Sales is attending the 2020 Cannes Film Festival’s Online Marché du Film with two films set to be showcased in market screenings and one selected for the Frontières Buyers Showcase, a platform presenting works in progress or recently completed genre films in search of international distributors, festival selection and/or commercial representation.

, Beniamino Catena’s debut sci fi drama, is one of the six titles selected for this year’s Frontières Buyers Showcase which is organised by the Market in league with the Fantasia International Film Festival and is set to present a 15-minute extract of each film. Vera de verdad is co-produced by Italy and Chile by way of Macaia Film and Atómica, with the support of the Ibermedia co-production fund, the Liguria Regional Council’s call for audiovisual productions (Action 3.2.2) and the Genova Liguria Film Commission. Shot between Liguria and San Pedro de Atacama in Chile, the film stars Marta Gastini, Davide Iacopini, Anita Caprioli, Marcelo Alonso, Paolo Pierobon and Manuela Martelli in its cast, with distribution in Italy entrusted to No.Mad Entertainment.

) and Nicoletta Polledro, the film tells the tale of 10-year-old Vera who disappears without a trace. Two years later, she returns, but instead of a teenager she’s a woman of around 25 years of age. Her family are shocked, but a DNA test confirms that this woman really is their daughter. When images from her past begin to resurface, Vera realises that she has lived life as a man pronounced clinically dead who woke up at the very same moment that she disappeared.

, meanwhile, is a love story of fragmented memories brought back to mind by a song. The film is written and directed by Miroslav Mandić while the music is that of Gigliola Cinquetti’s “Non ho l’età”, an ode to youth which accompanies the two protagonists, played by Mandi Pavlin and Silva Cusin. The film is produced by Slovenian firm Filmostovje in co-production with Italy’s Quasar Multimedia and RTV Slovenija, with the backing of the Slovenian Film CentreFS Viba Film, MiBAC, the FVG Film Commission, and the FVG Audiovisual Fund

, is a co-production between Bulgaria, the UK and France by way of Activist38, Glasshead and Ici et Là Productions. Mina Mileva and Vesela Kazakova’s first work after directing two documentaries and based on real events, Cat in the Wall shines a light on the vicissitudes of a single Bulgarian mother trying to build a life for herself in London. The titular cat is Goldie, a ginger tabby who changes the lives of aspiring migrants, crooks and gentrified Brexiteers alike. This moving work by the directing duo was selected for the Locarno Festival’s Official Competition in 2019.
