Interview with Wanda Adamík Hrycová, producer for Slovakian outfit Wandal Production and selected for the 2019 Emerging Producers programme.
Why do you produce documentaries? Do you understand documentary film as an instrument of social and political change?
Wanda Adamík Hrycová: I am only a beginner in producing documentaries but I guess the reason why I am trying to get more involved with it is that they can be more actual, can reflect faster the social and political issues that surround us.
What qualities should a documentary producer have these days?
I am trying to find that out myself these days.
What do you think is the future of distribution of documentary films?
I think internet is the key answer to the future of distribution not only for documentaries. I believe we need to deliver the films to the living rooms of our viewers and make legal watching easy accessible to them.
What projects do you have under way (including in the area of fiction film and other projects)?
I am currently developing two feature films, one documentary and I am in preproduction with mythical historical TV series The Slavs, which is a co-production between Slovakia and Ukraine.
