The first project will revolve around Virginia Oldoini, the ambitious and fierce Countess of Castiglione, an Italian patriot and fascinating spy sent to the court of Napoleon III in Paris. “(…) a ruthless and beautiful woman who shattered the court of Napoleon III with her charm and strength. An extremely modern character. “Beginning with the Congress of Vienna, women took centre stage in European politics”, states J. Mojto, CEO of Beta Film, a leading distributor of independent European content. “I have always considered the 19th century as a pivotal period of European history and I am convinced that Mompracem and Picomedia will bring a fascinating period drama with a fresh approach to our screens. Showing us this world through the eyes of the women who participated as protagonists, and across salons, theatres and battle fields, in the unfolding of events, will lend originality to the story and appeal to the international market “

The CEO of Mompracem Carlo Macchitella concludes: “We are thrilled to join this international team and believe that lifting the veil beneath which history has relegated some extraordinary women is not only the right thing to do but it will also capture audiences imaginations with its powerful, novel narrative”.
