Belgian filmmaker Philippe Van Leeuw, first known for his work as director of photography, is developing an intense filmography, in the four corners of the world. His first film, The Day God Went Away [+lee también:

, plunged its audience in the heart of an assieged apartment in the middle of the Syrian conflict, witnessing the tragedy of a Syrian family.

In his third feature film, which will begin filming on 9 November, he looks at contemporary America, and its very particular relation to borders and immigration. The Wall [+lee también:

follows the journey of Jessica Comley, an American border patrol agent posted in Tucson, Arizona, between the United States and Mexico. In this merciless desert, she leads with determination her mission to protect her country against drug trafficking and illegal immigration.

One day, she commits an act from which there is no going back, in front of an old man and his grandson, both of them part of a Native American community. While her colleague attempts to make the crime look like an accident, Jessica has to face these inconvenient witnesses: it’s their word against hers.

Jessica Comley will be played by Luxembourgish actress Vicky Krieps, touching in Cannes in both Hold Me Tight [+lee también:

Like Insyriated, The Wall is produced by Guillaume Malandrin for Belgian company Altitude 100 Productions. The film is co-produced by Tomas Leyers of Minds Meet (Belgium), Maria Moller Christoffersen of Beofilm (Denmark), Gilles Chanial for Les Films Fauves (Luxembourg), Vicky Westover for A Street Productions (United States) and Justin Kreinbrink for Monsoon (United States). International sales will be handled by Indie Sales, while Belgian distribution will be done through O’Brother Distribution.
