In Stockholm, Sofia Adrian Jupither is now filming Viaplay’s new original production, a six-part drama series entitled Limbo. The helmer is best known for her extensive work on the TV series Helt Perfekt, starring Johan Petersson, Eva Röse and Adam Pålsson in the lead roles and airing since 2018.

The project’s cast is led by a trio of Swedish actresses: Rakel Wärmländer (the TV series Eva & Adam, Dancing Queens), Louise Peterhoff (the TV series The Truth Will Out and Helt Perfekt) and Sofia Helin (the TV series Exit and The Bridge).

) and Wärmländer, begins with a late-night phone call that changes everything for Ebba (Wärmländer again), My (Helin) and Gloria (Peterhoff). The news that their respective sons have been involved in a serious car crash puts their friendship and priorities to the ultimate test, and with Ebba’s son Jakob hovering between life and death, the three women find themselves in a devastatingly uncertain situation – in limbo.

Speaking about the show’s narrative, writer and actress Rakel Wärmländer said: “Every character has their own problems, which the accident either diminishes or makes worse. Our series doesn’t try to paint a pretty picture, simply to show something true. It’s a mixture of the ugly, beautiful, shallow and deep all at once, just like life itself.”

NENT Group chief content officer Filippa Wallestam added: “Every relationship has many layers, and Limbo shows how a single moment can turn even the closest friendships upside down. Unique Nordic storytelling is at the heart of our strategy to bring Viaplay to new markets around the world. Starring three of Sweden’s biggest screen talents, this is a poignant and compelling show of the highest quality that will be relevant to audiences everywhere.”

Limbo is being staged by Warner Bros ITVP Sweden, the firm behind the making of NENT Group’s previous series Love Me and Partisan. The show will premiere exclusively on NENT Group’s streaming platform Viaplay next year.
