A French adaptation of Israeli director Joseph Cedar’s feature film Footnote (which won the Best Screenplay award in Cannes 2011) coming courtesy of Bruno Chiche in association with Cécilia Rouaud and Yaël Langmann, the story plunges the viewer into the Dumar family home where both father and son are orchestra conductors by profession: François is coming to the end of a long and brilliant international career while Denis has just won his umpteenth Victoire award in the field of classical music. When François learns that he has been chosen to lead the orchestra at Milan’s La Scala theatre - his ultimate dream and holy grail - he can hardly believe what he’s hearing. Initially over the moon for his father, Denis falls back to down to earth with a bump when he discovers that it was, in actual fact, him who was selected for this role…

Maestro(s) is produced by Philippe Rousselet on behalf of Vendôme Films, and is co-produced by Apollo Films (who will also manage distribution in French cinemas) and Orange Studio (who are steering international sales). Pre-purchased by Canal+ and OCS, Chiche’s feature film enjoys the support of the SOFICA companies Indéfilms, Cinémage, SG Image, Cinéaxe and Cinécap, and was the focus of a six-week film shoot in Paris and Milan.

For the record, following on from their triumph at the most recent Sundance Film Festival with Sian Heder’s Coda (due for global release on 13 August 2021 via Apple), Vendôme Films are also overseeing post-production on Farewell Mr. Haffmann [+lee también:
