Adopting a reshaped format for its eighth edition, the Cannes Marché du Film’s “Goes to Cannes” initiative is all set to unspool its selection entirely online. This time, four international film festivals and markets from Europe and Asia will showcase their selection of a total of 20 projects that are currently at the post-production stage.

Following a similar pattern to the physical screenings, the Goes to Cannes online sessions will run from 22-23 June at the Marché du Film Online, and each of the screenings will be presented for two hours. Among the festivals joining this edition are three regular participants, the New Horizons International Film Festival from Poland, the Thessaloniki International Film Festival from Greece and the Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF), while the newcomer is South Asia’s largest film market, the NFDC Film Bazaar from India.

The main change this year is the possibility for the attending accredited professionals to book meetings with the project holders during the Goes to Cannes Speed Meetings sessions, which will be held at the Marché du Film Online on 24 June.

Jérôme Paillard, executive director of the Marché du Film, mentioned: “While film festivals around the world are going through a transformation never experienced before, we wish to rally together to bring positive change to the film industry. We are proud to offer these major festivals and markets an online platform to help the filmmakers reach their audience in these unprecedented times.”
