Giulio Pranno, Ludovica Martino, Carlotta Antonelli and Giacomo Ferrara are the winners of the first edition of Meno di Trenta, a new awards ceremony dedicated to Italian film and TV actors under thirty years of age. Devised by Silvia Saitta with the artistic direction of Stefano Amadio and Silvia Saitta, the event was hosted by Rome’s Nuovo Cinema Aquila with the sponsorship of Mibact.

The Press Jury, composed of Vittoria Scarpa (Cineuropa), Luca Ottocento (Fabrique Du Cinéma), Elena Balestri (Funweek.it), Valentina Ariete/Margherita Bordino/Eva Carducci/Gabriella Gilberti/Sonia Serafini (The Giornaliste) and Alessandra De Tommasi (Airquotes.it), selected its winners from among the competition’s four main categories, starting with the artistic direction’s top five works released between 1 January and 31 October 2019. The awards ceremony took place on Saturday 7 December in Rome’s Nuovo Cinema Aquila.

In terms of categories relating to TV series, Carlotta Antonelli was crowned Best Actress – Fiction for her role in the Netflix original series Suburra – Blood on Romefor her ability to convey with great intensity – primarily through the study of facial expressions and gestures - the strong resolve of the character of Angelica”. Antonelli was a finalist alongside Antonia Fotaras (Mentre ero via), Benedetta Gargari (Skam Italia 3), Fotinì Peluso (La compagnia del cigno) and Valentina Romani (La Porta Rossa 2).

Likewise recognised for his role in Suburra – Season 2, and awarded the trophy for Best Actor – Fiction, was Giacomo Ferrara, who “lent Spadino the very best of his talent, alternating fiery looks with unsettling smiles. He also lent some of his dance moves”. Ferrara was in the running alongside Giancarlo Commare (Skam Italia 3), Emanuele Misuraca (La compagnia del cigno), Eduardo Valdarnini (Suburra - Season 2) and Lorenzo Zurzolo (Baby 2).

The Under 30 New Generation Special Award was also presented at the ceremony, a prize bestowed upon the 22-year-old director Phaim Bhuiyan for his film Bangla [+lee también:

. Assigned by the Meno di Trenta’s artistic direction team, the award looks to recognise projects which explore contemporary, universal themes such as integration and respect for fellow humans.

Last but not least, 19-year-old Jenny De Nucci scooped the Under 30 New Media Special Award, a prize which recognises forward-thinking approaches within the arts and the field of communications, assigned by a jury composed of high school students.
