This year, the Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event presentations, screenings and panel discussions brought together more than 600 guests from 54 different countries. The best projects were honoured with lucrative prizes on Thursday night. The most prestigious one, the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award for the best project among the line-up of 18, was given to The Great Match. The Polish coming-of-age dramedy, directed by Filip Syczynski and produced by Anna Rozalska, of Match&Spark, received the award of €20,000, with the jury commenting, “The project convinced us unanimously with the strong, heartfelt motivation of the director, who has a German and a Polish teenage refugee settling the scores of the recurrent European discussion about freedom on the tennis court.”

Screen International offered the Best Pitch Award and coverage of the life cycle of the winning film to The File by Slovak director Jonas Karasek, and the Cannes Marché du Film Producers Network Award for Promising Young Producer, including a free accreditation to next year’s edition, went to Carla Fotea from Romania and Andreas Kask from Estonia.

The International and Baltic Event Works in Progress presented 18 projects. The Post-Production Award, valued at up to €10,000 (but not more than two-thirds of the expenses incurred at Post Control), was given to the Latvian drama The Pit [+lee también:

by Dace Pūce. “The clips we saw left us wanting to see more. This specific coming-of-age story should be universally understood and has cross-border potential,” explained the jury.

The Baltic Event Works in Progress Award was picked up by director Sarah Blaßkiewitz for a sisterhood drama full of racial tension in Germany, called Precious Ivie [+lee también:

, with the jury commenting, “With its authenticity, current, relevant subject matter and sense of humour, the nicely shot Precious Ivie is a film about appearance that digs deeper into many other levels and deserves international distribution.”

The jury for the Baltic Event Co-production Market awards included producer Uljana Kim (Studio Uljana Kim, Lithuania), commissioning editor Simon Ofenloch (ZDF/ARTE, Germany), national representative of Eurimages in Romania Alex Traila, and Martin Blaney from Screen International (Germany).

The Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event Works in Progress jury comprised cinematographer Dhanushka Gunathilake, Debra Liang from sales agent Level K, and Alissa Simon, of Palm Springs IFF and Chicago IFF.
