After the successful GoCritic! workshops at Karlovy Vary and Trieste Film Festival, we are happy to announce that our next edition will take place at the World Festival of Animated Film Animafest Zagreb, from 3 to 8 June, 2019.

Founded in 1972, it is the second oldest film festival in the world completely dedicated to animation. Launched thanks to the global reputation of the filmmakers sprung from the Zagreb School of Animation, and based on the decision of ASIFA, International Animated Film Association, the Zagreb Film production company and the City of Zagreb, Animafest Zagreb takes place every year early in June.

With over 400 films, symposium on contemporary animation studies, presentations, exhibitions, lectures and workshops, the festival will provide a comprehensive insight into contemporary animated production and celebrate its rich tradition. 

Animafest Zagreb GoCritic! will be tutored by Vladan Petković and coordinated by Marina Burić. Six participants will get the chance to see the best that world animation had to offer in the previous year, and meet both crème de la crème of the global animation scene and vibrant new filmmakers. We will work on reviews, interviews, industry stories and introduce new formats of articles particularly fitting for the animation form. 

It is not required for the applicants to have an experience in writing about animation, but we strongly encourage writers particularly interested in this form to apply.

Animafest Zagreb is a fun and dynamic festival with many young guests, taking place in the best possible period of the year to be in Zagreb, meaning that, in addition to enjoying films and writing about them, our participants will also have a great time!
