Pathé’s international sales division stand was a hive of activity yesterday at the 69th Berlinale European Film Market, with Marie-Laure Montironi’s team revealing sneak peeks of two titles in post-production that are currently being eyed up by a number of distributors.

The first was The Best Is Yet to Come [+lee también:

by Matthieu Delaporte and Alexandre de la Patellière, which sees the two directors reunite for the first time since What's in a Name? [+lee también:

(two César nominations in 2013 for Best Film and Best Adaptation; with 3.3 million admissions in France, the film was also very well received oversees, with numerous remakes in the works, including An Italian Name [+lee también:

Pathé will also be showcasing a few sneak peeks from the hotly anticipated French-German co-production Proxima [+lee también:

Also in the line-up is a film slated to be finished by May: the French-Italian animated feature The Bear’s Famous Invasion [+lee también:

by Lorenzo Mattotti (an adaptation of Dino Buzzati’s book and based on a screenplay written by the director with Thomas Bidegain and Jean-Luc Fromental), which is being presold at Berlin off the back of a new promoreel that consists of a quasi-completed film montage.

Pathé will also be showcasing a first-look promoreel for Let’s Dance by Sébastien Chollat (article – due to be released in France on 27 March).

Among the post-production films being sold at the event on the basis of a screenplay is Judy by the British director Rupert Gold, starring the American actress Renee Zellweger in the role of a weakened Judy Garland getting ready to star in a show in London in 1968. The film is due to be released in the UK on 4 October 2019.

Other post-production films of note include the French comedy Dad Friend [+lee también:

by François Desagnat (due to be released on 19 December 2018 – starring Kad Merad, Pauline Etienne, Julie Gayet and François Deblock), as well as Benedetta by the Dutch director Paul Verhoeven (article), the premiere for which has been pushed back to 2020 as the director is undergoing a hip operation and insists on being involved in the film’s editing process.

Finally, Pathé will be at the EFM with the market premiere of The Wolf's Call [+lee también:

by Antonin Baudry (which is due to hit French theatres on 20 February and stars François Civil, Omar Sy, Reda Kateb, Matthieu Kassovitz and Paula Beer) and Sweetheart [+lee también:

by Lisa Azuelos (French release slated for 13 March), which focuses on the mother (Sandrine Kiberlain) of three children, with the youngest – with whom she has a tender and symbiotic relationship –soon due to turn 18 and leave the nest to go study in Canada.
