The Greek Film Centre (GFC) has announced its latest round of funding pre-approvals for 2018, which cover 37 projects spread across seven different programmes. The support granted totals over €1 million.

More precisely, four projects will be jointly supported by the GFC and France’s Centre National du Cinéma (CNC) under the convention for Greek-French cinematic co-productions (Aide à la Coproduction d’Œuvres Cinématographiques Franco-Grecques). The Greek-French fund has a total budget of €450,000: the CNC finances €300,000, and the remaining €150,000 are provided by the Greek side.

ficha de la película], which is currently in pre-production (French producer LUXBOX, Greek producer Blonde SA); Penny Panagiotopoulou’s (September [+lee también:

ficha de la película]) latest project, 40 Days (French producer Manny Films, Greek producer PP Productions); and Russian filmmaker Sveta Strelnikova’s People, Gods and Other Creatures, which is the only documentary being backed (French producer Good Fortune Film, Greek producer Vicky Miha).

Furthermore, three international co-productions will be supported as part of the Incentives Programme to Attract Foreign Productions to Greece. The film projects that have a Greek producer as a minority partner and which will receive financial support of €40,000 each are as follows: And They May Be Still Alive Today by Tudor Cristian Jurgiu (Romania/Greece - Greek producer Graal SA), Feathers [+lee también:

Three projects have been selected from among the seven submitted for the New Directors programme (intended for first or second feature films), with the amount of support granted totalling €420,000. The selected projects are: Night by Cristo Petrou (Argonauts Productions), Nea Ipiros by Pantelis Pagoulatos (BAD CROWD) and Black Stone by Mario Garefo (Steficon SA). Also, for the Low Budget programme, two projects out of four submitted have been granted €130,000. The projects are I Voi tou Kosmou by Petros Sevastikoglou (Fantasia Optikoakoustiki Productions) and Medea by Dimitris Athanitis (DNA Films).

Finally, seven short-film projects will receive support totalling €162,000, while 18 projects that are currently at various stages of scriptwriting will be backed through the Script Writing/Development programme, to the tune of €76,000.
