01 Distribution, RAI Cinema's distribution arm, has recorded a market share of more than 12% this season, confirming an average of 10-13% over the last few years. A share that has brought in €70 million in revenue and 10-11 million viewers, who are mainly opting for Italian cinema. "An important fact that suggests, and in some sense requires us, to continue along the same path," comments Paolo Del Brocco, CEO of RAI Cinema, who presented 01's line-up at Torino Film Festival. "A line-up that's once again been built on variety and quality, consisting essentially of films by great directors, talented newcomers and a few selected international titles, which will allow us to converse with various market segments."

During its nine years under Del Brocco’s guidance, RAI Cinema has co-produced 530 films, of which only 12% have been comedies. Some of the names that have contributed to the Italian film industry are Sydney Sibilia, Matteo Rovere, Pif, Giancarlo Fontana and Giuseppe Stasi, Valerio Mastandrea, the Manetti Bros – whose next film will be about the famous cartoon character Diabolik – and master of the graphic novel, Igort.

Igort's film, entitled 5 è il numero perfetto (from the eponymous graphic novel), is an Italian, Belgian and French co-production. Starring in this small Neapolitan tale set in 1970s Italy are Toni Servillo, Valeria Golino and Carlo Buccirosso.
