The economic fund Screen Flanders will make a substantial investment (almost €1 million) in animation in its second session of 2018. The €995,000 investment is expected to yield close to €7.6 million in audiovisual expenditure in the Flemish region.

Of the six productions set to benefit, four are animations. Animated series’ Meneer Papier, Ollie and Interstellar Ella are among the selected projects, as is Charlotte, the new feature from French director Bibo Bergeron. Walking the Dog, the Ghent-based animation studio that recently brought us the ambitious Another Day of Life [+lee también:

His new project, Charlotte, produced in France by Les Productions Balthazar in a co-production with Belgium and Canada, is inspired by the autobiographical work of Jewish artist Charlotte Salomon, whose Leben? Oder Theater recounts her struggle against Nazism and her own demons through her art.

Screen Flanders has also selected two full-length fiction films: Swedish deep-sea thriller Breaking Surface [+lee también:
