The shortlist of the ten movies in the Official Selection of the European Parliament's 2019 LUX Prize was revealed at this year's edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival; you can read the news here.

The Grandhotel Pupp hosted the unveiling of the selection, as part of the Industry Opening and introduced by KVIFF Head of Industry Hugo Rosák. This year it welcomed LUX Prize coordinator Doris Pack, Vice-Chair of the Committee on Culture and Education Helga Trüpel, Vice-Chair of the Committee on Budgetary Control Martina Dlabajová and last year's LUX Prize winner Benedikt Erlingsson.

The announcement was preceded by the unveiling of the winner of the Audience Mention for the 2018 LUX Prize Competition, based on feedback collated from voters from all over the continent. The lucky voter randomly selected to attend KVIFF, Hungarian-born, Sweden-based Barbara Majsa, announced Woman at War [+see also:

by Benedikt Erlingsson as the winner. The Icelandic director collected the award on stage and also took the opportunity to put the spotlight on the work of LUX Prize organisers Marisella Rossetti and Jindrich Pietras.
