Film and literature come together in Monaco
Today marks the opening of the seventh edition of the International Cinema & Literature Forum, which every year attracts more professionals seeking inspiration for film subjects at a time when literary adaptations are flourishing.

The event’s three-day programme includes two workshops on literary adaptations. The first will focus on Serment des limbes (“The Oath of Limbo”) and will be led by Jean-Christophe Grangé (author) and Frédéric Schoendoerffer (director), the rights to the book having been bought last year in Monaco by TF1 International.
The second workshop will look at 15 ans et demi (“15 and a Half Years Old”) – the film starring Daniel Auteuil which is set to close the Monaco event – and will be led by directors François Desagnat and Thomas Sorriaux, as well as author Vincent Ravalec.
A debate on the subject Film shoots: Is Europe competitive? will be attended by Arie Bohrer (President of the European Film Commission Network), Andrea Rocco (Genoa-Liguria Film Commission), Philippe Reynaert (Wallimage-Belgium), Giorgio Fossati (Turin-Piedmont Film Commission) and Patrick Lamassoure (Film France).
Another debate entitled Video games, comic strips and cinema: Partners or competitors? will be led by Yoshitaka Amano, Michel Ancel, Enki Bilal, Bruno Bonnell, Léon Perahia and Benoît Sokal.
A Cinema Lesson will also be given by UK director Alan Parker.
Held in conjunction with the event is the International Literary Adaptation Market (MIAL), which provides the opportunity for the negotiation of audiovisual rights to novels and comic strips. At last year’s market, agreements were signed for Guillaume Musso’s Et Après (“And Afterwards”), which will be produced by Fidélité Productions and for Douglas Kennedy’s The Pursuit of Happiness (production Haut et Court).
Industry professionals will also have the chance to negotiate deals at the third Remake Market.
