(working title: Strangers) and loosely based on the 2003 novel of the same name by Japanese writer Taichi Yamada. The Harrowgate-born director’s most recent outings include the direction of some episodes of the Netflix series The OA (2019), the five-part miniseries The North Water (2021 – see the news) and his latest feature, Lean on Pete [+see also:

(2017). Screened in the main competition of the Venice Film Festival, the coming-of-age drama follows a 15-year-old boy who begins to work at a stable and befriends an ailing racehorse, with Charlie Plummer, Chloë Sevigny, Travis Fimmel and Steve Buscemi in the lead roles.

, A Dark Place) is partaking in Haigh’s brand-new project, which has already entered production in the UK. The story follows a screenwriter (played by Scott) who, after an encounter with a mysterious neighbour, is pulled back to his childhood home, where he discovers his long-dead parents looking the same as they did 30 years before. All of Us Strangers is being staged by the UK’s Blueprint Pictures for Searchlight Pictures and Film4. Producing are Graham Broadbent and Pete Czernin, of Blueprint Pictures, along with Sarah Harvey. Ben Knight and Diarmuid McKeown are serving as the executive producers for Blueprint Pictures, together with Ollie Madden, Daniel Battsek and Farhana Bhula for Film4.

The release date is yet to be disclosed.
