With a script penned by Gleschinski himself, the upcoming feature will star Christina Große as Kerstin. Pegah Ferydoni, Karsten Antonio Mielke and Milena Dreissig are also among the cast.

Shooting took place this year in Mirow, wrapping in mid-September. The production of Alaska was backed by the Filmförderung Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and by the German Minister of Culture and Media (BKM). Alaska was also amongst the projects nominated in the Best Screenplay category at the 2021 Lola Awards (a category intended for scripts not yet in production).

The film is being produced by Germany’s Wood Water Films (Jasper Mielke, Karoline Henkel and Arto Sebastian) in co-production with ZDF/Das Kleine Fernsehspiel. The German release of Alaska will be handled by missingFILMs.
