A new six-part show, a female-boxing thriller called The Fighter, is currently filming in Sweden and Lithuania. The series was created by Alexandra-Therese Keining, best known for her LGBTQ-themed films such as With Every Heartbeat [+see also:

, and was co-written with Henrik Engström and Jörgen Bergmark.

In detail, The Fighter follows Lea Ferrera, a determined boxer with a chequered past who is willing to do anything to fight for the World Championship title. When an investigator suspects her of cheating, her one dream is on the line, and she must decide whether she is really prepared to risk it all.

The Fighter is being staged by Petra Jönsson and Karina Stääv Ardelius for independent Stockholm-based studio Kärnfilm.

Los Angeles-based production and distribution outfit Dynamic Television has recently boarded the series’ worldwide distribution rights. Speaking about the acquisition, managing partners Daniel March and Klaus Zimmermann defined the project as “an original and thrilling story set in a gritty and tough world that audiences haven’t seen”. The show is set to premiere on Swedish pubcaster SVT next year.
