Filming almost completed on L’année du requin
- Marina Foïs, Kad Merad, Jean-Pascal Zadi and Christine Gautier are in the cast of the new film by Ludovic and Zoran Boukherma, produced by Baxter Films and Les Films Velvet and sold by WTFilms
After beginning on 7 June, filming on L’année du requin by Ludovic and Zoran Boukherma will be nearly complete this week in South-West France, with just three days of underwater filming left to be shot in September. This will be the two brothers’ third feature after Willy 1er [+see also:

film profile] (2020 Cannes Official Selection recipient, Critics’ Prize at Sitges and at the Cinemed in Montpellier, Jury Prize at Gérardmer and Grand Prix in the French competition at Bordeaux; currently in French cinemas).
The cast includes Marina Foïs (well-received at Cannes in The Divide [+see also:

film profile], well received in the series Baron noir among others and in French cinemas on 1 September in The Big Hit), Jean-Pascal Zadi (winner of the Most Promising Actor César award in 2021 for Tout simplement noir [+see also:
film profile]) and Christine Gautier (revealed in Teddy).
Written by the two directors, the script sees a shark prowling in the bay of Arcachon, sending the entire Landes coast into high alert. Maja, a Coast Guard about to go on early retirement, jumps on the occasion to have one final mission…
Produced by Pierre-Louis Garnon for Baxter Films and Frédéric Jouve for Les Films Velvet, L’année du requin is co-produced by France 3 Cinéma. Pre-bought by Canal+ and Ciné+, the feature film benefits from the support of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, of the Landes department (where filming took place) and of the Sofitvciné Sofica. French distribution will be handled by The Jokers/Les Bookmakers, and international sales by WTFilms.
Baxter Films and Les Films Velvet (already partners on Willy 1er and Teddy) currently feature, in post-production, Guillaume Renusson’s Les Survivants (read the article). Les Films Velvet have recently produced two films which are yet to be seen: Undercover by Thierry de Peretti (article) and Les enfants des autres by Rebecca Zlotowski.
