Scientist Hannele Korhonen has one ultimate passion: to be the best at what she does and be recognised for it. Her life changes dramatically when she is awarded a 1,5 million dollars research grant by the United Arab Emirates to participate in their ambitious project to stimulate rainfall over the notoriously arid region. The opportunity to get proper funding and do good sounds amazing. But gradually, Hannele learns that the financiers have their own agenda. Her enthusiasm morphs into an ethical dilemma and inner conflict. If she manages to make it rain, is she creating a way to rule the clouds? What is the ultimate price of ambition?

, by writer-director Tuija Halttunen, set to compete for the Nordic:Dox Award at this year's CPH:DOX (21 April-12 May). Halttunen is a documentary filmmaker who has worked in the industry for over 20 years. Her documentary Neighbours was nominated for Prix Europa in 2013 and State of Mind got a state quality award in 2007. Moreover, her short documentary Heaven and Earth won the main prize at the Tampere Film Festival back in 1995.

How to Kill a Cloud was produced by Niina Virtanen and Pasi Hakkio for Finland's Wacky Tie Films and co-produced by Ulrik Gutkin for Denmark's Copenhagen Film Company. Ville Hakonen and Jussi Sandhu served as executive producers. The project also received backing from pubcaster YLE, the Finnish Film Foundation, the Nordisk Film & TV Fund, AVEK, The Church Media Foundation, DR, the Danish Film Institute, VGTV, Film Tampere, Kone Foundation and Elokuvatuotantoyhtiö Made. Its world sales have been entrusted to Germany's Rise and Shine World Sales.
