Adapted by Florence Vignon from Thierry Beinstingel’s text Ils désertent (Editions Fayard), the story revolves around Clémence Alpharo who needs to drive Henri Giffard, a sales rep at the end of his career, towards early retirement in order to secure a permanent contract in the company which has recently hired her. But Giffard won’t budge. His work is the only remaining thing giving meaning to his life. Caught between the idea of a professional future which would help her escape her family background and the unexpected affection she feels for the sales rep, Clémence must make a decision – one which will inevitably push Clémence and Henri to their limits…

L’homme debout is produced by Marc-Benoît Créancier on behalf of Easy Tiger in co-production with Les films du printemps (Juliette Hayat) and Orange Studio. Pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+, the feature film also enjoys the support of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region (where the six-week film shoot will unfold, in Valence and its surrounds, before wrapping on 7 May) and of the SOFICA companies Cinéaxe and SG Image. Photography is helmed by Aurélien Marra (nominated for the corresponding 2021 Lumières award by way of Two of Us [+see also:

), while distribution in France and international sales will be entrusted to Orange Studio.
