Adolescentes scoops an award at MyFrenchFilmFestival
- Organised by UniFrance, the online festival’s Filmmakers’ Jury crowned Sébastien Lifshitz’s documentary its champion, while the audience and international press voted in favour of Aurel’s Josep
At the close of a record 11th edition which saw MyFrenchFilmFestival, the online festival organised by UniFrance (read our news), amass 13 million views in upwards of 200 territories, the Filmmakers’ Jury, the International Press Jury and the audience delivered their verdicts.
Sébastien Lifshitz’s documentary Adolescentes [+see also:
film profile] found favour with the Filmmakers’ Jury composed of Gianfranco Rosi, Mounia Meddour, Monia Chokri, Franco Lolli and Rosalie Varda. Unveiled during Critics’ Week at the 2019 Locarno Film Festival, this Agat Film & Ex Nihilo production (co-produced with Arte France Cinéma and Arte France’s Society and Culture division) has been racking up awards since its release in French cinemas back in September via Ad Vitam, not only earning itself six nominations at this year’s Césars (notably in the category of Best Film of the Year, which encompasses all genres) - whose winners will be revealed on 12 March - and another for Best Documentary at the Lumières Awards, but also walking away with the Louis-Delluc Prize for Best French Film 2020. International sales are steered by The Party Films Sales.
The audience and the International Press Jury awarded their trophies to one same film: Aurel’s animated film Josep [+see also:
film profile], rounding off an impressive assortment of prizes already accumulated by the title. Decorated with the Cannes Film Festival’s 2020 Official Selection label, the movie also triumphed at the European Film Award 2020, winning the accolade of Best Animated Film, as well as the 2021 Lumières award in the same category and the Louis-Delluc Prize for Best First Film. Produced by Les Films d’Ici Méditerranée in co-production with France 3 Cinéma, Spanish group Imagic Telecom and film studios Les Films du Poisson Rouge, Lunanime (Belgium), Promenons Nous dans les Bois, Tchak, Les Fées Spéciales and Effecto, Josep was launched in French cinemas at the end of September by Sophie Dulac Distribution and is also sold worldwide by The Party Films Sales.
The list of award winners is as follows:
