Ten projects taking part in Seville’s European Coproductions meeting

Ten projects taking part in Seville’s European Coproductions meeting
Directors Lois Patiño and Matías Piñeiro, whose project Ariel has been selected

Once again this year, the Seville European Film Festival is attempting to save a slot intended to encourage collaboration between two countries on the continent. After the successful first edition of the European Coproductions meeting, which took place last year and shone a spotlight on building bridges between Spain and Italy (see the news), this year, it’s time to go west and focus on fostering cooperation between two neighbouring countries. The professional programme of the 17th edition of the gathering will thus concentrate on forging ties between Spain and Portugal, in conjunction with Spain’s ICAA, Portugal’s ICA, the Portugal Film Commission, the Spain Film Commission, RTP and Creative Europe – MEDIA, among others.

Owing to the restrictive measures that the Andalusian regional government has put in place over the last few days in order to limit the impact of the pandemic on its soil, the Seville-based festival’s industry heads opted to take the rendezvous online, using YouTube and Zoom, in order to enable producers and sales agents to connect with one another. Furthermore, those interested in attending can watch the open events, such as the introduction to the meeting and the activities of the film commissions, the awards ceremony, and the round-table entitled “So Close, So Far”.

As for the projects, standing out among the selection are several filmmakers who are already internationally renowned. Galicia’s Lois Patiño (who won an award at Locarno with Coast of Death [+see also:
