by François Ozon has been crowned the winning film of the 15th Rome Film Fest, which closed yesterday, 25 October. The only prize awarded for works competing in the Official Selection, the BNL Audience Award was voted upon by viewers of the festival who attended the screenings in great number despite the range of restrictions introduced as a result of Covid-19. Indeed, whilst cinema capacity was reduced to 50% for this year’s unusual edition - which unspooled just ahead of another round of cinema closures in Italy (effective as of today, as decided by the government in a bid to combat the virus), turnout was recorded at an impressive 85%.

Alice nella Città, the independent, parallel sidebar dedicated to younger generations which has now celebrated its 18th year, declared the American work Kajillionaire by Miranda July to be its Best Film, “for the [director’s] ability to create a story capable of transposing classic themes into both pleasant and harsh images, told from a surreal and cynical viewpoint”. The jury composed of 16 youngsters, ranging from 15 -  18 years of age, also handed a Special Prize to Francesca Mazzoleni’s Punta Sacra [+see also:
