The Heart of Sarajevo for best short film went to Croatia's Tin Žanić for Antiotpad, which qualifies it for the Oscars. Greek filmmaker Anastasia Kratidi received a special mention for In Her Steps.

The Audentia Award for the best woman director, chosen from a pool of 12 films that screened in various sections, was handed to Kiev-born, Berlin-based filmmaker Natalija Yefimkina for the Berlinale's Perspektive Deutsches Kino documentary Garage People [+see also:
