The Industry section of the 51st Visions du Réel, which took place online from 25-30 April, has announced its award winners.

The Industry jury, comprising Vincenzo Bugno, head of the Berlinale World Cinema Fund, Debra Zimmerman, executive director of Women Make Movies, and filmmaker Sergei Loznitsa, gave out seven prizes in the Pitching du Réel segment and another three in Docs in Progress.

The Party Film Sales Award, consisting of the acquisition of international rights for a documentary film, went to the French-Russian co-production Paradise [+see also:

by Alexander Abaturov. Norwegian filmmakers Petter Aaberg and Sverre Kvamme received the RTS Award for Young and Afraid [+see also:

, which means their film will be pre-sold to Swiss Radio Television.

Argentinian actress-writer-director Lola Arias received the HEAD – Genève Postproduction Award, consisting of colour grading and the creation of files for distribution, for her project Reas [+see also:

. The MFI SCRIPT2FILM Workshops Project Development Award, which takes the filmmaker to the Mediterranean Film Institute's DocLab with tuition fees covered, went to the French-Lebanese co-production Machtat [+see also:

Voice of Baceprot by Indonesia's Yosep Anggi Noen won the Cannes Docs Award, consisting of accreditations for the director and producer for the Cannes Marché du Film. The DOK Leipzig Talent Development Award, which provides the director and producer with accommodation, accreditation and access to the German festival's DOK Co-Pro Market, went to The Mission by Finland's Tania Molainen. The same type of award, but from the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival's Agora, valid for one person, was given to the Austrian-Argentinian co-production A Little Love Package [+see also:

In Docs in Progress, Malintzin 17 by Mexico's Eugenio and Mara Polgovski won the Freestudios DCP Delivery Package Award. It also received the visions sud est Award for the best project from Asia, Africa, Latin America or Eastern Europe (excluding EU countries) from the jury comprising Martial Knaebel, of trigon-films, Delphine Niederberger, of the Freiburg International Film Festival, and Antoine Thirion, of the Locarno Film Festival.

The asterisk* Marketing Award, consisting of a one-hour consulting session on audience design and marketing, was given to three projects: Jin Huaqing's Dark Red Forest (China), Ignacio Agüero's Notes for a Film (Chile/France) and Farah Kassem's We Are Inside [+see also:

(Lebanon/Qatar/Denmark).

The DAE Encouragement Award, which includes two memberships of the Documentary Association of Europe and four free consultations with network members, went to Moon Blaisse's The Miracle of Almería (Belgium/Netherlands/Switzerland).

In the Rough Cut Lab section, which was judged by editors Yaël Bitton and Emma Davie, the Raggioverde Subtitling Award, consisting of subtitle creation and translation into one language, went to Last Days at Sea by Filipino filmmaker Venice Atienza.

Finally, in the Opening Scenes section of the Visions du Réel official programme, which is dedicated to short and student films, three filmmakers received prizes intended to advance their professional careers. The IDFA Talent Award, consisting of an invitation to participate in a tailor-made programme within the IDFA’s industry and training activities, with expenses covered, went to Russian director Alex Evstigneev for The Golden Buttons. Adèle Shaykhulova received the Tënk Award for Without You, Without Me (France/Russia), meaning that the film has been acquired for distribution on the VoD platform and that the filmmaker gets an editing residency at the Lussas Village Documentaire. The META Cultural Foundation Award, consisting of a creative residency in Slon (Romania), went to French director Pauline Pénichout for Mat and Her Mates.
