The 17th Kiev-based International Human Rights Film Festival Docudays UA took place online from 24 April-3 May and wrapped with Ukrainian filmmaker Iryna Tsilyk's The Earth Is Blue as an Orange [+see also:

winning the main awards in both the international DOCU/WORLD and the national DOCU/UKRAINE competitions, each worth $1,000. The film world-premiered at Sundance earlier this year, where Tsilyk bagged the Directing Award in the World Cinema Documentary section.

In the Rights Now! section, the main prize went to the 2019 Sundance hit Midnight Traveler [+see also:

by Hassan Fazili, which also received the Current Time Award. Special Mentions in this competition were given to the South African-Swedish co-production Buddha in Africa by Nicole Schafer and War Note [+see also:

by Ukraine's Roman Liubyi, which also received the Audience Award and the Andriy Matrosov Award, given out by the Docudays UA organisers.

(Estonia/Latvia), the winner of the Grand Prix in Karlovy Vary's Documentary Competition, received the Teenage Jury Award, and Dutch filmmaker Maasja Ooms picked up a Special Mention for her IDFA prizewinner Punks [+see also:

In the DOCU/SHORT competition, the main prize went to Enric Ribes' Greykey (Spain) and a Special Mention to Oleksiy Radynski's Circulation (Ukraine). Each of the main awards came with $1,000.

Meanwhile, in the Ukrainian Doc Preview – the festival's industry section, which provides an opportunity for Ukrainian teams to present their full-length documentary projects in production and post-production to festivals, international funds, sales companies and broadcasters – Simon Mozgovyi's project Salt from Bonneville [+see also:

received the Ukrainian Film Institute Award, worth €5,039 (UAH 150,000).

The Current Time Award of $2,000 went to Iron Butterflies, the new project by War Note director Roman Liubyi, while Marta Smerechynska's Diary of a Bride of Christ [+see also:

 picked up the East Silver Caravan Award and the DOK Leipzig Award.

The DAE Talent Development Award was bestowed upon The Elf's Tower by Polina Kelm, and the Pitch the Doc Award was given to Plai. Path Through the Mountains by Eva Jishiashvili.
