Map to the Stars: The new Italian festivals app

A free app allowing users to discover and find their way among the many film festivals unfolding in Italy, named Map to the Stars, has been launched by AFIC, the Association of Italian Film Festivals, bringing together over 75 events taking place across the peninsula. It’s a natural continuation of the efforts the Association has made to promote film festivals since its inception in 2003, and is all the more important in the current climate of generalised uncertainty caused by the health crisis, which, to date, has forced the postponement or cancellation of 16 AFIC festivals this year.

Available on Google Play (here) and Apple Store (here), the new AFIC app gives users rapid access to detailed tabs for each event (competitions, awards, contacts and many other details) and an interactive calendar which immediately indicates the next scheduled festival upon opening, as well as the closest festival to the user at the time. It also provides industry development updates and will soon boast an additional function which will allow users to evaluate the festivals they’re attending.

Described as an indispensible tool for ensuring greater, ongoing interconnection between film festivals as they adapt to new technologies, Map to the Stars was developed with the support and sponsorship of the Film and Audiovisual Department of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, and of Tourism.
