Written by the director, alongside Caroline Bongrand, Tatiana de Rosnay and Thomas Bidegain, the story centres around the civil engineer Gustave Eiffel who is casting around for inspiration, under intense pressure to produce something spectacular for the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1889, following his highly fruitful and much applauded collaboration with Auguste Bartholdi on the Statue of Liberty. It is at this point that his path crosses that of the mysterious Adrienne, a high-born woman with whom he’d shared a deeply passionate and loving relationship many years previously…

Produced by Vanessa Van Zuylen on behalf of VVZ Production/L’Insensé Films, Eiffel is co-produced by Pan-Européenne, as well as by Pathé who will be heading up French distribution having successfully kick-started international pre-sales at Cannes’ recent Marché du Film. Due to wrap in November, the film-shoot is starting out in the Haute Loire region (in Pont-Salomon) before moving on to Paris, with photography entrusted to Matias Boucard (nominated for a 2016 Lumière Award in his specialist area for SK1 [+see also:
