 by Francesco Zippel and “Sono Gassman!” Vittorio re della commedia by Fabrizio Corallo are the winners of the 2019 Nastri d’Argento Documentary Awards. Treves’ film about the introduction of fascist race laws in Italy, presented out of competition at the Venice Film Festival, was chosen in the Best Non-fiction Film category; meanwhile, Zippel came out on top in the Documentary about Cinema category, with his up-close-and-personal portrait of director William Friedkin, and Corallo triumphed in the Entertainment category with his tribute to the great actor Vittorio Gassman

 by Nanni Moretti Documentary of the Year, whereas the victor in the brand-new category of Best Art Event Movie, which proved to be very popular with audiences, was Hitler Versus Picasso – The Nazi Obsession for Art [+see also:

 by Claudio Poli. The Special Nastro went to Andrea Camilleri for Conversazione su Tiresia (directed by Roberto Andò), which he both penned and performed in, and the Lifetime Nastro was bestowed upon director, cinephile and tireless arts promoter Silvano Agosti.

Lastly of note are the Special Awards for The King of Paparazzi – La vera storia by Giancarlo Scarchilli and Massimo Spano, about photojournalistic legend Rino Barillari (Figure of the Year), and for Il mare della nostra storia by Giovanna GagliardoTutto davanti a questi occhi by Walter Veltroni and Up & Down – Un film normale [+see also:
