As expected, many French international sales companies at work at the American Film Market (read the article) took advantage of the opening of the market yesterday to unveil new titles making their way to their line-up. Quick overview on the first announcements.

by Fred Cavayé, is beginning the sales of When Animals Dream by Danish director Jonas Arnby (an Alphaville production with Backup Films), whose filming will end soon. Flirting with horror, the feature, which is set in a small fishing village, focuses on a teenager falling in love who discovers she is a werewolf. It is worth noting that Cécile Gaget’s team also welcomes on its line-up Samba by duo Eric Toledano - Olivier Nakache (article – filming with Omar Sy, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Tahar Rahim) and Diplomatie byGerman director Volker Schlöndorff (article - in post-production), whilst pursuing work on several other titles such as La French by Cédric Jimenez (with Jean Dujardin in the lead), Gemma Bovery by Anne Fontaine (with Gemma Arterton and Fabrice Luchini) and the 3D animated film Ballerina.

Le Pacte’s line-up welcomes Queen & Country by British veteran director John Boorman (Deliverance, Excalibur, The Emerald Forest, Hope and Glory, etc). Produced by Kieran Corrigan & Co, the feature whose filming had begun in the Shepperton studios and is currently taking place for six weeks in Romania, is played by Caleb Landry-Jones, Tamsin Eggerton and Vanessa Kirby. The story focuses on an 18-year-old young man drafted for two years of service with the Korean War as a backdrop. Amongst the new films in Le Pacte’s line-up, it is also worth noting Life of Riley (read the news) by Alain Resnais, The Kindergarden Teacher by Israeli director Nadav Lapid (coproduced by French outfit Haut and Court), Wild Life (article) by Cédric Kahn and Metamorphoses by Christophe Honoré (article).

Amongst other announcements, we can mention Taken 3 for EuropaCorp, Insecure by Marianne Tardieu (starring Reda Kateb and Adèle Exarchopoulos) for Urban Distribution International, the "slasher" Cub by Belgian filmmaker Jonas Govaert for Kinology and Divorce à la française by Dorothée Sebbagh (article – with Italian actor Kim Rossi Stuart and Géraldine Nakache) for TF1 International (which will pursue negotiations notably for Suite française [+see also:

by Saul Dibb and its cast including Michelle Williams, Kristin Scott Thomas and Matthias Schoenaerts). As for StudioCanal, it will focus in particular on the pre-sales of the project Macbeth by Justin Kurzel (with Marion Cotillard in the lead) and the film (shooting) by Stephen Frears dedicated to the famous ex-cyclist (and doping) champion Lance Armstrong.

Finally, (source: Le Film Français) Films Distribution has begun the pre-sales of the next film by François Ozon, Une nouvelle amie, based on the novel by Ruth Rendell currently filming with Romain Duris, Anaïs Demoustier and Raphaël Personnaz in the cast.
