25 producers on the move to Cannes

European Film Promotion (EFP) has announced the 25 film producers from 25 European countries who will take part in the networking platform Producers on the Move at the upcoming Cannes International Film Festival from 14 – 17 May.

For three days, the 25 participants will be thrust into the spotlight and brought together with the international film industry and press. They will be able to discuss ideas as well as the planning and financing of international projects, and explore the potential for possible co-productions. Experts from the Eurimages co-production fund and representatives from Commerzbank will offer them further information about complementary financing opportunities.

This year marks the largest selection of producers since the programme’s launch 12 years ago. Albania is represented with a producer for the very first time.

Some producers have already been selected in Cannes’ various sections. Iceland’s Hlín Jóhannesdóttir (Zik Zak Filmworks) co-produced Rúnar Rúnarsson’s Volcano which will screen in the Directors’ Fortnight (news), while Cinefondation has picked Hungarian producer Attila Csáky’s project Hier, directed by Balint Kenyeres, as well as Bogdan Mustata’s Wolf, which will be co-produced by Germany’s Gian-Piero Ringel (Neue Road Movies), to participate in this year's edition of the Atelier.

In addition, the multiple award-winning feature debut Sebbe [+see also:

, produced by Sweden’s Mimmi Spǻng (Garage Film International) will be presented in the Cannes Junior category.
